Situated in Salt River, the building shall soon enough become the new Old Biscuit Mill. Pals is the building where the Devil’s Peak Brewery calls home. They call it The Tap Room. You can munch on “Chicken & Waffles”; crispy southern fried chicken on waffles, um, what could be better? Well their “Pulled Pork Sandwich” could be. The pork is marinated in one of the brewery’s very own ales. Let me just tell you that you won’t go home hungry.
The brewery does tasting trays where you can taste every one of their craft beers. Otherwise if you know which beer you enjoy, you can go ahead and order a draft. For those of you who are not beer fans, they do some lovely wines to go with your snacks.
As you walk in you are hit with an aromatic smell of the beers being brewed, and you can see the large tanks from the lounging area. The atmosphere is shabby chic with beer bottles as vases and trestle tables for you to sit at as well as sitting back on their couches after a long day at the office having a beer with the boys. The room has a full glass wall on the one side where you can gaze upon Table Mountain. I can only imagine how the sunsets would look from there. The service is top notch. On a Saturday night you will find the venue becomes a bustling room with only the coolest people in Cape Town, so I would recommend getting there early to secure a spot to crash at during the night.
